Several businesses are selling Strong Kids badges for $1 including Econo Foods, Apple Valley Lanes, Culvers, Town and Country Mobil, Family Video and Walgreens. The badges will then be displayed in their facilities with the purchasing customers names on them and 100% of the proceeds will go to the Strong Kids Campaign.

Also running the entire month, Door County Trolley will be donating $1 for each ticket sold, Jim Olson Motors will be donating $5 for each car test driven, The Ladder House will be donating $1 for each Strong Kids Bacon Cheeseburger purchased and packets of Door County Coffee (the Daisy Collection) will be available for purchase for $1 at both program centers with all proceeds going to the Strong Kids Campaign.

There will also be specials run during specified time periods throughout the month. Cornucopia Kitchen Corner will be donating 10% of sales during the week of April 11 – 17, H&R Block will donate $25 for every new client referred through April 15, and Pizza Hut will be donating 10% of sales all day on Thursday, April 22, dine-in or carry-out. Wilkins and Olander also already ran a special with 15% of all purchases on regular priced items going to the Strong Kids Campaign.

The Strong Kids Campaign is the annual campaign to provide funds for scholarships and affordable programs “for all” in Door County regardless of age or financial need.  In 2009, the community helped the Door County YMCA raise $400,450 to support this program.  The goal for the 2010 campaign is $410,000.

On January 28, 2010 Door County Style Magazine reported the good news that Women’s Employment Project, Inc. (WEP) was awarded funding from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to continue the Door County Transportation Options Program (DCTOP) in 2010.

Door-Tran Mobility Manager, Pam Busch says,”On Wednesday, February 10, Applebee’s will donate 15% of the guest check to Door-Tran and the Door County Transportation Options Program. Print and bring the flyer with you when you dine in or call ahead and carry out. Please, tell everyone you know – help spread the word!”
